GCE Group participates in international conference “Industrial safety in mining in XXI century”

25.10.2016

The applied research conference was hosted by the Mining University in St. Petersburg on October 20-21.

The main objective of the conference was to discuss up-to-date issues of industrial safety in mining industry, to generalize national and global experience in ventilation of mines, pits and underground facilities, to dwell on the ways to improve industry-specific regulations and developments in the fields of aerology, risk assessment, PPE design.

The conference was attended by the heads of oil, gas and metallurgy companies as well as the leading experts from engineering design and R&D institutes in Russia, CIS and abroad.

“We live in the time of rapid changes. Yet, the progress in science and technology has its negative side. I am convinced that there are no borders when it comes to people’s health and safety. Therefore, cooperation, experience and knowledge sharing, proper training and prompt response to potential hazards are crucial today”, - says Alexander Moskalenko, President of GCE Group.

Forum participant’s opinion

«All over the Forum I discussed with other specialists future activities arising from the problems mentioned here. At the moment the Forum is very much fixed on problems with industrial safety in Russia and neighboring countries like Kazakhstan, Belorussia and so on. But we need to open it more for international standards.

Nearly every presentation was to some extent interesting for me, for example the methodologies for risk assessment, because this is also the topic in European Union constraints. But also the topics which are far away from problem fields in Germany, problems with pipelines, for instance. These topics are really new for me, and normally, I didn’t have knowledge about this.

The organizational level of event was very high and I don’t want to complaint anything. I have one proposal concerning information transfer – presentation interpretation by two interpreters is not enough. I would like also to have presentations in two languages – Russian and English. It is too much for an interpreter to transform all the information and slides, so some people were not able to understand the language».
