Ceremonial cannon shot closed XIII International Forum on Industrial safety

07.07.2015

On June 5, 2015 the Forum delegates and GCE Group officials participated in the honor guard mounting ceremony at Peter and Paul Fortress, and after that they fired a cannon at Naryshkin Bastion.

The canon shot was dedicated to closing of XIII International Forum on Industrial safety. Among the guests were Denis Shulga (Head of HSE Department, Chernomorneftegas), Chris Mawer (Vice President HSE & Engineering, British Petroleum), Ayhan Yüksel (Director, Chamber of Mining Engineers of Turkey) and Jouko Saarela (PhD in Technical Sciences, Finnish Environment Institute).

XIII International Forum on Industrial Safety was held on June 2-5, 2015 in St.Petersburg. More than four hundred delegates presenting fourteen countries met to discuss industrial safety issues and enhance international cooperation.

Forum participant’s opinion

«All over the Forum I discussed with other specialists future activities arising from the problems mentioned here. At the moment the Forum is very much fixed on problems with industrial safety in Russia and neighboring countries like Kazakhstan, Belorussia and so on. But we need to open it more for international standards.

Nearly every presentation was to some extent interesting for me, for example the methodologies for risk assessment, because this is also the topic in European Union constraints. But also the topics which are far away from problem fields in Germany, problems with pipelines, for instance. These topics are really new for me, and normally, I didn’t have knowledge about this.

The organizational level of event was very high and I don’t want to complaint anything. I have one proposal concerning information transfer – presentation interpretation by two interpreters is not enough. I would like also to have presentations in two languages – Russian and English. It is too much for an interpreter to transform all the information and slides, so some people were not able to understand the language».
