To tell the truth, this Forum was a unique experience for me. I had participated in some similar seminars in India and abroad before, but I have never seen such a perfectly organized and interesting event like your Forum. I don’t speak Russian, but everything was done to make my participation comfortable. I want to say thank you to the great interpreters who made this knowledge-sharing process so easy for me. I am expressing my deepest gratitude to Alexander Moskalenko, General Director of GCE Group, and his team who were working non-stop up to the Forum opening to make it a success. I would love to attend other events which GCE Group might organize in future. Best regards and thank you all for your hospitality!

A good forum in general. It is interesting – lots of questions, good topics for discussion. I hope we will see many more of it.

The Forum was perfectly organized. Let me say, this is the first time I see such level. The organizers have done a great job. All the reports are unique and interesting in their own way.
Lead Labor Protection Engineer Polyus Stroy
This is my second time at the conference. I haven’t ventured to make a report yet, but my manager is one of the speakers. Last year I was absolutely contented and today I see that they have been continuously perfecting the level of expertise and organization. I really enjoy the case studies. The oratorical skills of the speakers and the depth of their knowledge are very impressive. I would like to say thank you to the organizers and hope to attend the Forum next year.

It was, I suppose, the tenth time I visit the Forum. It becomes more and more interesting every year. New platforms, new rules, new faces. Multiple sessions cover truly challenging areas.

The event was very interesting. It was nice to meet the colleagues with whom we worked on the industrial safety platforms. Organization was impeccable. I liked that, apart from Russian experts, there were guests from other countries.

Head of Industrial Safety Department Gyprovostokneft
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to speak about the changes in our legislation that are happening in our country now. The Forum is very useful, there are very few events like this one in industrial safety. We had enough time to discuss all the topics – accidents prevention, diagnostics, project inspections, industrial and state supervision – these are challenges we all face. We have a lot in common and will organize many joint events. I think the Forum was a success.
Deputy Chairman, Industrial Development & Industrial Safety Committee Ministry of Investments and Development (Republic of Kazakhstan)

The event was truly remarkable; I had the opportunity to replenish my knowledge, share experience with many experts from private companies, state authorities and science institutions. I am congratulating you on superb organization. I hope that we have laid the foundations for solid and continuous partnership.

«Such forums will provide important contributions in terms of their specific subjects; as well as industrial safety. Through such kind of Forums, the recent studies and experiences can be shared; thus, the accidents can be avoided without any loss. The causes and consequences of the major accidents have vital importance in terms of industrial safety. The studies that are related to such kind of accidents (such as Soma) should be taken seriously. In addition, giving attention to new developments in industrial safety might increase the attention to the Forum. I am thankful to the organization committee. From the welcome until the farewell, everything was great».
Director of Chamber of Mining Engineers (Turkey)
«When I get the program one day before, I realized that It is very impressive. The program is of very high quality. I introduced the Forum to my colleagues and recommend it to them. I think, it is a very important event. I’ve been on many conferences, and this is one of the best! When I see the program, it is very difficult to understand what is missed. Nothing more at the moment».
Dr. Jouko Saarela
Dr. Tech of Finnish Environmental Institute
«This was a very impressive group of professional industrial safety experts. It is useful to get people together who do similar work, so that they can gain knowledge from the experience of others and understand regulations and requirements for improvement of safety. There were very interesting and informative presentations and it was clear that people here were interacting and learning from one another. However, I received interesting questions about my presentation and I hope that my presentation was of some use to the delegates. I enjoyed the interactions with the participants and I enjoyed the overall event. The organization of the meeting was exceptional. GCE management did a great job in organizing and implementing the conference».
President of Corona Environmental Consulting

Deputy Director General UVS-AVIA (Russia)
«I visit the International Forum on Industrial Safety for the last 3 years. The organization level and the program level acquire larger and larger scale every year, improve for the benefit of both participants and companies. Over the years I get the most necessary and useful information, meet interesting and competent specialists, participants and organizers of the Forum. They allow me to realize new trends in the legislation in the field of industrial and occupational safety as well as to share the experience of legislation appliance, the use of modern methods of personal protection equipment, means of spill liquidation».
Shumilov Roman Leonidovich
Head of Industrial and Occupational Safety Group, Russian innovation fuel and energy company OJSC
«The Forum is very helpful. The representatives from different companies and different regions exchange their views and ideas – this is from one point of view.
Here I managed to exchange exact views on the specific type of work. There was a possibility to talk with my colleagues and work out several solutions to be implemented. The training was very useful».
Lukashev Viktor Nikolaevich
Head of Environmental Safety Department, Rosneft – Severnaya Neft
«I participate in this Forum for the first time. The organization is on the high level, details are considered, the topics are divided into sections. I would like to participate in different activities, but it is not possible to visit all of them: there is a briefing where urgent issues are discussed, at the same time there is an overview of the legislation and the lessons learnt from the industrial accidents in the congress hall».
Mikhaylov Eduard Igorevich
Head of Industrial and Fire Safety, Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy
«Such forums as the XI International Forum on Industrial Safety definitely help in improving the situation with industrial safety. Among participants there are representatives of international associations from different countries and continents, each with its own history and its geopolitical situation. Due to this fact, even a simple discussion of what is going on in each of the countries represented by the participants, both in regulatory activity and in work of supervisory bodies, later allows Forum participants to use this experience in their own countries. Contacts between representatives of different countries result in direct improvement of international relations and help in signing important contracts.»
Head of the Department of Technical Supervision and Industrial Safety Ministry of Economy (Moldova)
«All over the Forum I discussed with other specialists future activities arising from the problems mentioned here. At the moment the Forum is very much fixed on problems with industrial safety in Russia and neighboring countries like Kazakhstan, Belorussia and so on. But we need to open it more for international standards.
Nearly every presentation was to some extent interesting for me, for example the methodologies for risk assessment, because this is also the topic in European Union constraints. But also the topics which are far away from problem fields in Germany, problems with pipelines, for instance. These topics are really new for me, and normally, I didn’t have knowledge about this.
The organizational level of event was very high and I don’t want to complaint anything. I have one proposal concerning information transfer – presentation interpretation by two interpreters is not enough. I would like also to have presentations in two languages – Russian and English. It is too much for an interpreter to transform all the information and slides, so some people were not able to understand the language».
Scientific Senior Advisor of the Safe Handling of Hazardous Substances and Major Accidents Control Department
Federal Environment Agency (Germany)
Member of the UNECE Industrial Accidents Convention Bureau
«First of all I would like to point out high organizational level of the Forum. The event provides a unique opportunity to share experience with industrial safety experts from various countries. We discussed lots of challenging topics. The most important for Blue Stream Pipeline Company B.V., like for all hazardous industrial facilities operators, are industrial safety practices and changes occurred in the legislation, especially the changes in the Federal Law 116-FZ which impacted everyone. In addition, I would say that the main challenge in the present world is the responsibility of the owner of any hazard facility. This challenge must be paid close attention to.»
Vladimir V. Korneev
Technical Director Blue Stream Pipeline Company B. V. (Russia)
«I would like to thank GCE Group for the invitation to XII International Forum on Industrial Safety. I’m glad that our country sent me as a delegator this year as it is the first time Tajikistan took part in this event. Further we will try to participate more actively. When I return to Tajikistan, we will discuss with my colleagues all the topics presented in the Forum. The most significant topics discussed, from my point of view, were mines accidents, high pressure vessels explosion and many others. I hope more presentations will be dedicated to mines operational safety next year and I hope we will report next time.»
First Deputy Head
General Office on State Supervision over Safe Conduction of Works in Industry and Mining Supervision under the Government of Tajikistan
«Each time participating in this event I get additional information required for our everyday work. We have a unique opportunity to communicate with our friends and like-minded people, I mean industrial safety experts, during the event. Such communication allows advancing technical level and expressing your own opinion on industrial safety, labor protection and many other topics. I would like to mention high organizational level of the Forum. Also, I want to say that the Chairman, Alexander Moskalenko, communicates in such a friendly manner during the event that each person, who participates the Forum for the first time, feels calm and free to interact with any of the participants. My recommendation is to engage more international specialists into this event as it is always very interesting to hear about safety practices applied in other countries. Each time I’m looking forward to listen to Leal Langerman’s reports as they are very technically informative and very easy to understand, at the same time.»
Rushti Safar ogly Safarov
Director Azerbaijan State Research Institute for Occupational Safety and Accident Prevention, EMERCOM (Azerbaijan)
«The XI International Forum on Industrial Safety is an important summit, because this is a possibility to discuss industrial safety issues with some of the major stakeholders, namely industry and authorities. The UNECE regards such events as a possibility to reinforce the implementation of the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents. Events such as the XI International Forum on Industrial Safety allow us to come to common understanding and to contribute to higher level of protection of human health and environment.
It is very encouraging that representatives of many countries are gathered here to discuss the issue of industrial safety. It is hard to transfer experience, but since the majority of experts here have similar backgrounds, sources of expertise and regulations that would allow them to increase their capacity in the area of industrial safety.
It is important to involve all relevant stakeholders in the implementation of the UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents - authorities on local, regional and national level, industry, general public and NGOs, but also international organizations. The UNECE is also cooperating on international level with other UN bodies in order to tackle most effectively the issue of transboundary accidents. Industrial safety is the key to high level of protection for human health and environment, and it is very important not only to be able to react adequately to the occurrence of major accidents, but also to do the utmost to prevent and prepare for them.
That is why we regard the XI International Forum on Industrial Safety and similar international summits as meaningful events. Attention of the international community towards industrial safety is increasing, as the popularity of such summits do, and governments all around the UNECE region are paying more attention to industrial and accident safety.»
Manager of the Assistance Programme The UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents (Bulgaria)
«Forums like this actually help to improve industrial safety. One of the advantages of this forum is that people can share experience, i.e. about the accident that happened in Bhopal, or accidents happening in Moldova, Ukraine, etc. People learn lessons got after such accidents, and create new rules, regulations and best practices in order to prevent them. Its very important to learn the best practices of other countries and organizations, and implement them in your own country, in your own organization, it is very important. I think, today people pay enough attention to the problems of industrial safety. In fact people are now becoming aware of the disasters and safety operations. Like air and water we breathe and use, safety has become very important.»
Madhukar Onharnath Garg
Director CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (India)
«I think that the most important thing about the Forum is that it's an opportunity for experts from different countries to get together, listen to presentations, have discussions in the margins of the Forum, and share experience of best practices in the area of industrial safety. It's a great opportunity for everyone involved!
Nowadays, with increasing numbers of global operators, having some continuity and consistency in the way that legislation applies across the world is important. The Forum this week is a good way forward. It has been helpful by providing the platform for the exchange of ideas on how different countries regulate hazards.
Thank you to the GCE Group and team for hosting such an event to promote the dialogue between countries, governments and industries. I hope through my role in the UNECE Industrial Accidents Convention, we can continue to work together in the future to make progress in industrial safety.»
Chair of the Working Group on Implementation of the UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial
«I support the initiative of St.Petersburg science and business representatives to hold a world scale conference on the issues of industrial and environmental safety provision. Undoubtedly it is impossible to provide safety of a separate state without interaction with the world community. In the course of industrial progress environmental pollution, growth of threat for life and health of the planet population is inevitable, and it is only joint friendly actions that will be able to protect us and to preserve the world for future generations.»

«Speaking on behalf of the UNECE I should say that this Forum is very important for us. It gives us the opportunity to present to the participants who represent authorities and the private sector the content and the importance of the Industrial Accidents Convention. There are so many laws, regulations, paragraphs, but sometimes everything a miner needs is to use his brain and practical training he has got in company. I hope that in the future we will be able to co-organize such event as this Forum with GCE as equals.»
